Join us at Pioneer Park, Town Beach in Broome on Friday 26th January 2024, for a vibrant, free Australia Day celebration.
Organised in collaboration with the Shire of Broome, the National Australia Day Council, Broome Lion’s Club, and other local service providers, the event is a celebration of the Broome community.
The Lions will be putting on a BBQ breakfast, starting at 8am, while there will be fun and entertainment for all the family – including music by local performer Dan Guidera and free train rides.
This year we will welcome 15 new Australian citizens and the special address will be by our Australia Day ambassador, Krista Dunstan. Krista was a Finalist – WA Young Australian of the Year 2012 & 2015. A 28-year-old Noongar woman, Krista Dunstan is a human rights and reconciliation advocate in her community of Perth. Krista believes in giving back to the community and is passionate about ensuring that all Australians are given a “fair go”.
Another highlight of the day will be the presentation of the 2024 Community Citizen of the Year Awards, with winners to be announced in the senior, youth and community member categories.
This is the community event that brings us all together to reflect, respect, and celebrate our unique Australian story.
